Chouette Silhouette

RickOwensdress

So this is my Rick Owens tank dress that I absolutely adore. The silhouette it creates of a woman's body is, in my opinion, sexier than any type of dress I have worn or seen. You don't need a slit to show a mile-high thigh or a low cleavage to display your "twins" because this dress has a type of pseudo see-through effect thanks to what is called cheesecloth fabric. So in other words on a very sunny day if you stand at just the right angle to the sun, you should cause a car pile up, bicycle pile up and deer-caught-in-headlights with their mouths open stares from baby boys in their strollers to the trio of World War II veterans clocking in their last tan before leaving this Earth.

Bonjour from Paris. Today has turned out to be a lovely day (so far) despite last night's rain. I have been catching up with friends, including some who are too lazy to hop on the train to London, though I do love any excuse to come to Paris. Saturday was a great day to catch up with my best friend Amelie and have lunch at the famous cafe Les Deux Magots, and do a spot of shopping, which for me included buying more jewelry to add to my collection. I bought these lovely earrings at a jewelry store called Othello on 21 rue des Saints-Peres, 75006. Metro: Saint-Germain-des-Pres.

And seeing as I am currently living at my photographer friend's place, I am abusing every privilege to do test shoots and little videos with him and drooling all over his photo equipment and his iMacs that he uses for retouching. Ugh, he has a photographer's apartment to DIE for ! As well as his Dior jacket which shall somehow accidentally find its way into my luggage.

So my ring collection is growing ever so slowly. I love vintage jewelry the most and I love the new YSL rings in circulation right now. I just have to decide whether to pay my gas and water bills or show my landlord the finger .... with a ring on it. Yep, I think that's what I'll do; the Single Ladies dance in front of my landlord to show him where some of that rent money went and then pray he has a shoe fetish so that I can sacrifice one of my Louboutins as compensation.

But with the weather getting warmer, and with people showing more skin, it's time for me to go jewelry shopping again. I love the jewelry section at Liberty of London. It has the best variety in my opinion. Of course Bond Street has some sweet treats but the KGB -looking bodyguards all over the street make it impossible to even look at the window for more than 2 seconds. God forbid you might whip out a hammer from your Prada and smash the window! LOL. For those of you who didn't get that last part, in London we have a current trend of gangs on motorbikes smashing jewelry stores with hammers, whilst us locals and tourists watch and film it to post later on Youtube.

Leather lover

I should be wearing nothing but this leather jacket. Just kidding! Although I am sure I would go through airport security quicker. But I must say this All Saints leather jacket feels like the lovechild of velvet and butter, if any of that makes sense? This is my second leather jacket from All Saints, seeing as I have worn my previous one to death over the last two years. (The previous one being the one below). And with these silk Zara pants billowing in the wind, all I need is a Hattori Hanzo samurai sword weapon to give me that anime look.

So denim on denim is one of this summer's trends and I am rather nervous about taking it on and getting it right. I see the GAP ads where everyone looks really, really, ridiculously good looking and try to imagine my friends and I head-to-toe in denim and popping out of the London underground without the risk of looking like prison cell mates out on a day trip. Though, speaking of prisoners, this denim trend reminds me a lot of one of my favourite movies, and one I would highly recommend: The Shawshank Redemption

So this is not how I expected the day to turn out. I have been busy preparing for London Fashion Week and my friend texts "McQueen is dead". This coming at what is a busy week for models and designers running around preparing for next week. But I think we should celebrate a person's life and not dwell on their death.

And can someone tell me when this hellish, freezing weather will end?! I am dying to go bike riding in teeny shorts and skirts. In fact I just don't want to look like the Michelin man every time I leave my apartment!Well, anyway, I am off to a gallery and then to one of those house parties where people invite a billion friends through Facebook to come and trash their parents' mansion.

I apologize for the lack of posts. I have been busy but in a good way: New agency. Participating in an ad campaign (photo coming soon) and London Fashion Week castings. And my friend and I just finished working on AMON + MONICA. And my birthday is two weeks away, practically the day before London Fashion Week 2010! And I am studying super hard on my Russian language course. And I got a little tattoo. And I just realized I threw away some important paper that my driver's license was attached to, so in order to get the seal of approval to get on a motorbike I had to pay £20 for a new one seeing as the instructor won't acknowledge my presence unless I have it. This is the part where in Kanye's words I go "ape shit".

And that's about it for now. I'll stop with the ranting.

How Stella got her groove back

I am a big fan of Chloe and Stella McCartney designs and before I was, as they say, "became aware of fashion", I used to think they were one and the same. Granted Stella designed for Chloe for a while but I still see a continued resemblance between the two. That being said I was over the moon when Zara decided to channel a bit of Chloe (or was it Stella?) in their new collection. I must say I now have quite the collection of blouses and shirts that are silk / crepe with an open collar. I would love to pair this blouse up in the spring with my leather skirt (seeing as there is a trend for leather this spring) seen here.

Beauty shot _ Natasha Ndlovu

I thought I'd do my first ever makeup post by showing you one of my favorite makeup looks, modeled by yours truly. This is from a photo shoot I did in Holland before the Christmas holidays, shot by a good friend named Katja. Being nice enough to let me experiment, I wanted to do a minimal look with a touch of red on the lips. I was inspired by Hilary Rhoda in one of the Estee Lauder ads for the holiday season. As someone who hates caked-on makeup and with very little patience to blend eye shadows to create some tropical look, I tend to stick to the nude look with some color on the lips. So here is a sample of my favorite products that I would use:
